Some people start as early as July. That’s why they call it Christmas in July. Alot of stores honor Christmas in July by having “Christmas Sales” in July. Some radio stations play christmas songs around that time too. I know 97.1fm plays christmas music that mth.
Depends on the person. Some folks hit the after-Christmas sales and shop for next year’s Christmas gifts. Some people buy Christmas gifts all year, whenever they see something they think would make a good gift. A lot of people start after Labor Day because that’s when a lot of stores start putting out Christmas decorations and toys. Still others wait until the Friday after Thanksgiving, which is usually the biggest shopping day of the year. Then you have your procrastinators, who usually wait until a few days before Christmas (or Christmas Eve) to do their shopping.
To give you one idea: My wife and I start shopping for Christmas around the beginning of November because we put money aside every month starting in January and finishing at the end of October for our holiday expenses like the Thanksgiving turkey, a Christmas tree, Christmas presents, etc.
