Christmas JoyHow do I keep my kitten out of the Christmas tree?

My kitten is about 10 months old, and at times he can be a big pain. He pulls things off walls, clothes off hangers and just about everything you can imagine. I’m worried that once the tree is up and all my very breakable rare ornaments are up that I will come home to a huge disaster. Any ideas or suggestions as to what keeps kitties out of christmas trees?

u dont !! my kittens were constantly in the tree all christmas last year, i tryed everything !!! just look forward to next year when hes older lol

They make sprays that you can put on things to keep cats off of stuff if it works or not im not to sure but its worth a shot

mist the cat in the face with water in a spraybottle everytime it even gets near the tree. it will soon learn to stay completely away from it. good luck and merry christmas!

Kittens LOVE christmas~my Cats are destroying my tree right now while I’m typing, I’ve tried everything! Can’t get anything to work. My cat **** water, so I tried ********* them with a sqirtgun everytime they go near the tree, but they tolorate it to play with the tree, I think I need HELP TOO!!!

Ah! The joys of being a kitten. All those new little things it can play with.
You can do several things. One is keep the cat outside while the tree is up, two put the cat in another room, three, don’t put up the tree, four, buy cheap ornaments to place on the Christmas tree for the next couple of years and five, last but not wanted, you can put the expensive ornaments on the tree and let it break them.

give the cat some cat-nip and only put it where you want the cat to be and there is some products you can spray or spread that cats will avoid….as far as what products..that should be an easy search for you…if you need hints as to what to use as a search question
*********products that keep pets away from furniture********* enter that in your favorite search engine ….this should be a huge help for you…

I saw on here someone suggested to put Vicks Vapor rub around the bottom of the tree because cats **** the smell of that. But you have to reapply it because the smell will go away after awhile.
Another thing is maybe do what parents do with babies. Put it in a play pen but I don’t know if a kitten could crawl up it.
We have 3 cats and we just use a plain old ****** bottle with water in it. Cats **** water. I’ve also heard to maybe put ballons tied to strings at the bottom of the tree. Cats claws may pop it and this will scare them enough to not go near it again. But be careful because animals and kids can chock on ballon parts.

Aren’t kittens great? Try putting all of your breakable ornaments at the top and getting some plastic ones to put around the bottom. Also, if you are really concerned that he might climb the tree, put him in a room with his food, water and kitty box and close him in. Preferably the laundry room, perhaps? It will keep him out of trouble and save you the grief of coming home to a destroyed house!

sprinkle pepper around the base o fthe tree regualry, or when the kitten goes near the tree hold it gently and give it a tap on the nose every time the kiten does it. This is a learning cycle like they know how to use a litter tray or where there food is.

I once had problems with a lonely kitty (baby girl) chewing apart the vineshion blinds just to be able to see out the window to watch for the kids and I to come home. I brought her home a friend of the same *** (cali). I also had plenty of toys in a basket next to their kitty bed. I built a 6 ft kitty stand made out of wood with carpet over most of the wood. The wood that was left uncovered I put thick rope around for a scratching post. You can also buy this type of kitty stand for about $300. Cheaper to make. A spray bottle of water and a firm NO might also cure the problem. I also bought a kitty scratching toy to hang from door knobs.
In doing these things for my kittys I never had a problem with the christmas tree and I also have three children. One year I bought a mini christmas tree and hung a stocking for kittys so that the kids could give kittys toys and treats.
Give the kitty lots of love and let him know that their part of the family to, but with their own toys to destroy! lol
