You can’t, other than keeping her out of the room where the tree is situated. Many cat owners have told me that cats are independent types, and are not as readily trained as dogs.
In my experience, either they are interested in the tree and you won’t be able
to stop them, or they will not be interested and you won’t have to do anything.
You can’t you will have to secure your ornaments w/wire or only put soft ornaments on the tree. If your not around you may have to close her off from the room.
Get plastic ornaments and keep light strings off the bottom. My cats have played in the tree for years and haven’t gotten hurt (thank God). Just kitty proof your tree (hang ormaments with yarn instead of wire hangers, and remove tinsel and icicles, tie the tree to ceiling so it doesn’t tip over). This is how my kitty looked one morning after a romp with the tree. I just couldn’t be mad at him! Good luck!…
NOT MUCH CATS ARE PRONE TO MISCHIEF TRY TO CATCH HER IN THE ACT AND USE A ****** GUN WHEN SHE IS JUST ABOUT TO START UP OR CLAP WHEN SHE IS LOOKING AT IT LIKE HUUMM THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN OTHER THAN THAT GOOD LUCK
Well, in my experience, I’ve learned that cats are attracted to either the smell of the tree (if it’s real), or the sparkly ornaments & lights. I have a 2 year old cat, and she has never climbed up into our tree, but not all cat owners are so lucky.
Maybe you should try and keep your cat out of that room, or just make sure that all the ornaments & the tree are secure… after all animals deserve to have fun at Christmas too.
If you find the answer to this question I would sure like to know. I have tried all the suggestions I have found on the net so far. Tinfoil under the tree worked for about an hour, now he plays with it. Spray in him with water used to work when he scratched the furniture back with the tree he gets soaked and still won’t get out. Haven’t tried the orange peels yet but I am about to peel an orange and try it. Good Luck!
