Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson takes you behind the scenes and teaches you the steps behind the magic. Decorating your Staircase banister is a beautiful way of bringing Christmas to additional parts of your home ensuring the attention goes beyond the obvious Christmas Tree. In this video, she will walk you through the steps she takes to decorating her own stair case. step #1. Attach the Garland to your railing in a casual swaging style and fluff the branches (if artificial:-) step #2. Light the Garland starting from the middle out. step #3 and 4. add twig type or icy branch garlands step #5. Add the balls and ornaments. step #6. Establish a focal point at the base of the stair for added attention and detail. step #7. Add ribbons and bows. step #8. Add the ice cycles to the tips of branches step #9. Hide extension cords as best you can (use a cord that is the closet color to your wall color.) Or have electrical outlets added at the tops of each landing 🙂 FOR RESPONSE VIDEO TO YAY CHRISTMAS: www.youtube.com FOR PART 1 IN SERIES: www.youtube.com FOR PART 2 IN SERIES: www.youtube.com THIS VIDEO IS PART 3 IN SERIES: FOR PART 4 IN SERIES: FOR BOW MAKING TUTORIAL: www.youtube.com FOR GIFT WRAPPING TUTORIAL …

I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is just fabulous!! I wish you would do a step-by-step video though. Show in detail how you put the ribbon, extra twigs, ornaments and all the little extras in the garland. I love decorating over the top too ( I also make my bed everyday) I just have a hard time knowing where to place some things and HOW to get them to stay in place.
Great video, thanks so much for sharing your talent and home!

I love the design of your stairs. Are those crystals hanging down at the top of the stair railing? If so where did you find those? I would love to put them on my stairs!

Hi, I just stumbled across your videos and I not only have I felt the need to thank you for taking the time to film and post these videos but also because you have given me great inspiration for next year. I missed the magic when growing up as my parents divorced when I was 9, now at the age of 26 I’m determined to make sure my son’s Christmas is magical. This year we’re at my mom’s but next year, I am taking a leaf from your book! Thank you so much for helping with my Christmas spirit! xx

@robesondesign I totally agree with you Rebecca… Clearly this is a matter of personal taste. I mean, why would you take a shower if you’re only going to get dirty by the end of the day? All that effort gone to waste. Or, why would you bother washing your clothes b/c they’re going to get dirty anyways? Again, all that effort gone to waste. I guess everyone’s entitled to his/her own opinion… Keep up the awesome videos Rebecca, many of us like to make that extra effort. 😉

Hey there! You do great work…You have such a great eye and while it may seem like a lot to go through for some, I think decorating your home for the holidays just adds that extra touch and makes such a difference in the festiveness. Anyway, keep on sharing, you have a bunch of fans! BTW, how your personality comes through in sharing tips and demystifying the design process reminds me of Karen McAloon who was on HGTV. I really liked her too. 🙂

Hi @MillymollysX, I can understand your thinking. Believe me, it is a lot of work to put it up … and take it down… but its the same principals as making your bed. Why, you are just going to sleep in it again the next night! I guess its a matter of Tradition in America and most of us do it. As a Designer I do more than most but thats to be expected. It does create a festive mood and is enjoyed by my family and guests we have to our home for the Holidays. My mom did it big and so do I.

I wouldn’t go through all that effort because soon after you take them down , so is there any point? all that effort gone to waste

I really like your videos and think you’ve done a great job but in the future please don’t use the evil S -name when we are viewing Christmas decorations. I know you don’t mean it in the worst way but still… I am trying to get the Christmas Spirit after all 🙂 Thanks!
