Why does See’s Candy have a different expiration date on the bottom of the box and a better expiration date on the Christmas wrapper? This doesn’t seem right. These codes were explained to me as for example 012 means the 12th day of the year (which would mean January) and the 357 day of the year would be mid december. So my box of candy has 292 stamped on the bottom and 012 on the Christmas wrapper. I don’t understand.

I would assume the date on the box is the expiration for the candy itself and the date on the Christmas wrapper is the last date they can sell it as Christmas Season candy.
Some candy boxes are double wrapped and after Christmas season they remove the Christmas wrapper and sell the candy box as a all season regular candy box.
