My cat looks like Tarzan when he climbs up in the Christmas tree. He is always hyper and he is ruining the ornaments. His name is mittens. I don’t want the Christmas tree to end up falling on him. HELP!!!!
my cat does this too, if you can, ***** an eye hook into the wall that its up agains’t and then put a string around, so that way it won’t fall on her.. other then that whenever youh see him in the tree yell at him and take him out of the room.
Well, our cats were always playing with the Christmas tree. I think one of them liked climbing it, but never made it up very far cause my mom kept an eye on her. All of them have liked laying at the bottom playing with the ornaments (and breaking some in the process).
If at all possible, you could move the Christmas tree to a location you could keep the cat away from. My mom’s living room is separate from the rest of the house, so she usually puts up some sort of barrier to keep the cat out of there. You could get like a baby gate or something.
Also, you may have to just try disciplining the cat every time it tries. Try talking sternly to it and you could get a spray bottle and spray it with water every time it tries. I dunno how to discipline animals. Haha. I think it works for dogs when they bark though.
As soon as he gets into position to jump up your tree, grab him, and say ‘No!’, firmly. You can also try the ****** bottle, but that may scare him and cause him to go up the tree.
Use a spray bottle and spray him as he starts walking around the try. Do these before he climbs the tree or else he is going to want to run and might just jump from the side of the tree and drop your ornaments and or the entire tree!
I like the idea of fixing a hook in the wall to stop the tree falling over – I’ll have to try that one.
Personally I have never managed to stop them climbing but I did stop them from knocking the decs off – I get sparkly glitter pipecleaners from the craft shop and use them to fasten everything on !
Good luck !
Get spray bottle put water in it and spray him to get out of the tree, cause most cats hates water and it works on my 21 months old,but not my orange tabby.
Cats dislike the smell of menthol or eucalyptus oil. Add a few drops to water and spray a mist of this over the tree. Surround the base of the tree with pine cones which you have also scented with menthol or eucalyptus. Cats **** the feel of pine cones underfoot, so it should also stop them wanting to get to close to the tree in the first place.
fill a spray bottle with water, or keep several ****** guns handy, when your cat heads for the Christmas tree give’em a little blast from the ****** gun… may have to do it once or twice, but not likely .. works every time,,, for the curtains ,counters ,screens too ,good luck

I’m not sure you can… cats love to climb and a christmas tree is an open invitation for an indoor cat to climb.
